For more than fifty years, The Vizcayans have raised funds through special events, membership and donor programs, bequests, and the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Endowment Fund.

The Role of The Vizcayans

The Vizcayans, in close collaboration with the Advancement Division of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, play a critical role in locating and engaging private philanthropic funds.  These funds represent an important portion of the Museum’s annual revenue.  As Vizcaya’s operating and program costs continue to rise with the hiring of new staff, extensive restoration and capital projects, and the implementation of new educational and curatorial initiatives The Vizcayans role becomes very clear.

The Vizcayans provide funding for an assortment of activities at Vizcaya, including:  educational programs, restoration and capital projects, special events, such as our Lunch and Lecture and Cultivation programs; a series of educational lectures by leading scholars and museum professionals offered exclusively to higher-level donors and those with the potential for sustained and significant giving.

Recently completed restoration projects supported by The Vizcayans include the Tea Room doors in Vizcaya’s main house, the Frog Fountain on the south terrace, and the balustrade in the entrance forecourt.

The Vizcayans annual fundraisers include The Vizcayans Annual Ball, the Halloween Sundowner, the James Deering Society Annual Donor Recognition Dinner and the Evening Under the Stars events.  Tickets to most of these events are available here on our web site under the Programs and Events tab.
