Goals

The Vizcayans is the private sector partner to the public sector Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Trust.  The two entities work cooperatively in advancing the Museum’s mission.  The president of The Vizcayans serves as a member of the Trust.

In collaboration with the Vizcaya Trust and the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Executive Director, the Vizcayans support the Museum in accomplishing its key commitment to the care of the historic collections and facilities.

It is through annual membership, the endowment program and fundraising events that the Vizcayans are able to continually provide financial support for restoring and enhancing Vizcaya’s Main House, Gardens, and grounds, as well as assist in restoring the Vizcaya Village and its grounds.

In 2004, The Vizcayans played a leadership role in supporting the Miami-Dade County Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond initiative.  On November 2, 2004, Miami-Dade County citizens overwhelmingly voted to support the General Obligation Bond program.  Through this program, Vizcaya will receive $50 million critically needed funding to undertake the restoration and enhancement of its Main House, gardens, and the Vizcaya Village.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is supported in part by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.  Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
