Mission Statement

The Vizcayans engages broad participation in the preservation and advancement of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens as an accredited museum and a National Historic Landmark through financial support, advocacy and other activities.

Chartered in 1957, The Vizcayans was expressly created for the purpose of raising funds to aid in the maintenance and restoration of Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.

Due to the harsh natural effects on the house caused by South Florida’s extremely humid and salty-air climate, ongoing and proactive restoration and preservation are of constant concern.

Funds for restoration and preservation are raised through membership, social and cultural fundraising events, major donor contributions and bequests.

In addition to the restoration and preservation of Vizcaya, the secondary component of our mission is to promote an active appreciation and patronage of the arts and of Vizcaya which is in line with the mission and vision statements of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
